Faith and Betrayal

"Into the Depths"

Following up on a vague entry that Inquisitor Sand found in Karanov’s journal, the Acolytes are sent to the Death World of Kenov III to investigate something called the “Anphelion Project.” Using their Inquisition authority, the Acolytes induct a squad of Imperial Guardsmen from the planet of Malfi to assist in their investigation. When the Acolytes arrive at the planet, they are surprised to find a secret Imperial Research Station on the planet’s surface called “Akari Station.”

ImagesOnce planet side, the Acolytes find that the station is used to house and conduct experiments and research on various Tyranid organisms. Unfortunately for the Station’s personnel, and the Acolytes, many of the Tyranid specimens have escaped and have slaughtered almost all of the Station’s staff. As the Acolytes and the Guardsmen investigate further into the depths of the Station’s sub-levels they are met with potential death in the form of Genestealers waiting for them around every corner.

In the Station’s deepest sub-level Acolytes come face-to-face with a man-like machine whose very existance is an abomination ti the Ommissiah Creed. This machine is easily destroyed and just as the Acolytes are about to depart an Imperial Strike Cruiser appears and destroys the Acolytes’ Cruiser. The Acolytes are taken into custody by the Imperial Navy under several charges, including Piracy and Associating with Xenos. Akari Station is destroyed from orbit.

The Acolytes are brought back to Scintilla to stand trial. While ennroute to the detention facility, the Acolytes’ prisoner convey is attacked by unknown forces. Subsequently they escape and their current whereabouts are unknown. Resources from the Adeptus Arbites, Magistratum, and Inquisition will be brought to bear to capture these dangerous criminals and their co-conspirators.

"Shades on Twilight"

The Acolytes of Cell C2 are urgently dispatched to board a massive Spacehulk that has been designated as “Twilight” that recently materialised into realspace and investigate the meaning of a distress beacon that is coming from the hulk- a distress beacon that is displaying the call sign that belongs to Inquisitor Adorjin, an Inquisitor that vanished six centuries ago. Time is Alikhari450cof the essence though, as the Spacehulk is on a collision course with the planet of Scintilla, the sector’s capital planet, and the Imperial Navy plans on destroying the hulk before it impacts the planet.

Initially sent to investigate the beacon and recover Adorjin’s sword, the Luminious Reproach, the Acolytes, with the assistance of Brother-Sergeant Agamorr, a Space Marine from the Hammers of Retribution Chapter working as a member of the Deathwatch, discover that there is something else strange taking place on the Twilight. Harrassed by foul creatures of the warp, spirits of long dead humans, and members of the vicious xenos race known as the Dark Eldar, the Acolytes are in a fight for survival to complete their mission before the clock runs out.

Eventually the Acolytes’ investigation leads them to the hull of one of the Inquisition’s infamous Black Ships that is embedded inside of the massive Spacehulk. This is also where they encounter, and agree to form a makeshift alliance with, another group of Acolytes working for a rival Inquisitor, Inquisitor Soldevan, with the same mission. Inside the Black Ship the Acolytes learn of Adorjin’s fate, the fate of the ship’s crew, and recover two important artifacts of the late Inquisitor- the Luminous Reproach and a copied of the highly valued “Liber Daemonica” (the book of the Grey Knights).

Unfortunately, the Dark Eldar are interested in these artifacts as well and launch a massive attack into the holds of the Black Ship to take them from the Acolytes. The battle brings several of the Acolytes and their allies on the verge of death, and only with the martial prowess of Brother-Sergeant Agamorr did they manage to escape with their lives from the Dark Eldar and the disintegrating spacehulk.
Darkeldar
In the end, the Acolytes only managed to recover the Luminous Reproach; the Liber Daemonica had been secured by the Dark Eldar with the assistance of one of the Acolytes from the rival search party- a man named Forden who was a double agent working for the Serrated Query. The whereabouts of the traitor and the book, as well as the reasons for the dark kin’s interest in the book, are unknown.

"Rejoice for you are True"

The Acolytes of Cell C2 go undercover as nobles to discover the link between some of the xenos circuitry found in some of the bionics of the Churgeon and an Imperial religious cult located in Hive Sibellus, Scintilla called the “Joyous Choir.” Assistance to their cause is provided by the noble family of House Strophes who are good friends of Inquisitor Sand. The head of the house, Laurent Strophes, wants the Inquisition’s assistance investigating the disappearance of his niece who joined the “Joyous Choir.” The Acolytes’ investigation gives them insight into the corruptness and debauchery of the Scintilla nobility and they are only able to secure an invitation to one of the Choir’s exclusive meetings after Xerxes seduces an influential noble woman that is ranking-member of the Choir.

With invitation in hand, Xerxes and Jonas are received at the Joyous Choir’s Alabaster Court and their they meet the Choir’s leader, Caros Shoal, and are also introduced to a mysterious drug called “Farcosia.”Theodosia big

Further investigation reveals that elements within the “Joyous Choir” work for an organization called the “Serrated Query.” Lead by a deadly cyborg named “Theodosia,” elements of the “Serrated Query” have been using the “Joyous Choir” as a front for kidnapping psykers. These psyker are then transported to “Ambulon,” the Walking City, and processed into the drug Farcosia, which is then sold to the nobility for major profit.

The Acolytes initiated a full assault on the Query’s holdings on Ambulon and while they succeeded in elminating the Query’s operatives (including Theodosia) and shutting down the drug processing lab, this was not without cost as the Cell members were severly injured and their esteemed warrior and faithful Guardsman, Strang, was killed in action- selling his life dearly against the Emperor’s enemies. His sacrifice was not in vain as he succeeded in wounding Theodosia enough so that the rest of his party could dispatch him.

Additional inquires will need to be made regarding the “Serrated Query.”

"The Edge of Darkness"

In his debut as a newly appointed Inquisitor, Inquisitor Sand sends in the Acolytes of Cell C2 to investigate the strange happenings in the the section of Hive Sibelleus known as Coscarla, all of which are linked to a dead body that had been surgically implanted with a strange heretical device that served to act as a control mechanism.

The Acolytes’ investigation quickly revealed that Coscarla is a dangerous place in which masses of the local population have gone missing while the remainder lock themselves up at night waiting in fear till daybreak. Strange and deadly human constructs, known as the “Red Eyes” kidnap members of the populace and bring them to the Alms House where they are crudely used as human test subjects for vile experiments. The mastermind behind all this is a horrible half-human half-machine known as the Churgeon whose vile work is done on the behalf of a Tech-Heresy group that calls themselves the “Logicans.”

In the final confrontation, the Acolytes confront the Churgeon and her creations and with the faith of the Emperor on their side saving them from near death, they are able to take the Churgeon prisoner and turn her over to Inqusition custody. What secrets the Churgeon knows, and what further plans the Logicians have are yet to be seen.

"Ice"

Communication with the observation station on Mono-10 (one of the moons orbiting the planet of Orbel Quill) known as “Tiberon Station” has been lost for several months. The station, under the authority of the Ordo Xenos, has requested that Interrogator Sand send in a cell of Inquisitor Volk’s Acolytes to investigate the Station because they are the closet Inquisitorial asset available. Inquisitor Volk and Interrogator Sand agree, mainly due to the fact that the Station is run by one of Sand’s good friends, Inditor Karanov.

When the Acolytes arrive on Station they are shocked to discover that all the Station personnel are either dead or have been changed into by some type of animated existance of humanity with seemingly no intelligance or drive other than to kill anything that comes near them. This appears to be linked to some type of Xenos plant contamination. Two of Sand’s team, Guardsman Lupo and Tech-Priest Vern were contaminated, but only Vern survived the subsequent removal of the parasite. Karanov was not infected, but was found to have gone insane from his ordeal on the Station.

The rest of the Acolyte team were able to eliminate the possesed Station crew, but failed to locate the source of the infestation. Inquisitor Marcus Xill of the Ordo Xenos arrived on Station and took command of the operation. He ordered that Tiberon Station be destroyed from orbit and isolated the Acoltyes for quarantine and mission debriefing. The parasite was successfully removed from Tech-Priest Vern, but unfortunately, Guardsman Lupo died in the process of removing the parasite from his body.

Further information regarding Tiberon Station, Karanov, and the Infestation have been locked out for higher security clearances

Thought for the Day: “Defeat is never an option.”

The completion of my latest operation on Tiberon Station signals the end of this experimental phase of the Anphelion Project.

It was with great satisfaction that I signed the order for destruction of Tiberon Station. The facility has served its purpose well and valuable data was obtained that will undoubtedly prove important towards our continued research. The unfortunate sacrifice of the Station’s small staff of thirty personnel was a small, but necessary, price to pay in a war for Mankind’s very survival.

The involvement of Interrogator Sand was a small technicality that should not have any cause for concern. Quite the contrary, the data fresh data obtained from the specimens sampled from Sand’s investigation team prove quite valuable and gave much insight on how to correlate the rest of the data recovered.

Based on the analysis of the information obtained so far, I believe that we are prepared to move forward with the next phase of the Project.

"Plasma Uprising"

Elements of the Heretical Cult- the Brotherhood of Malice have unleashed strikes on several locations on the planet of Sepheris Secundus, including a major Plasma Reactor on the outskirts of one of the major hive cities. While the orders of the Imperial Guard and the PDF forces were to take the plant by force, a cell of Inquisitor Volk’s Acolytes (under the direction of Interrogator Sand) were tasked to capture alive one of the senior leadership members of the Brotherhood of Malice during the battle.

After sneaking into the Reactor facility during the PDF/Imperial Guard siege, the Acolytes battle bands of cultists while searching the building for their target. They eventually happen upon their target and his entourage and a fierce battle ensues after which the Acolytes are successful in capturing Ahabenhoff, one of the cult’s senior leaders and an exceptional Telepathic psyker. Additionally, the Acolytes recover several copied pages of a heretical text called the “Librum Est Kusti,” which was thought to be lost (its last reported sighting was approx. 40-years ago access to additional matter is classified.)

"Shattered Hope"

Inquisitor Volk has newly recruited and established aWarhammer chaos army attack cell of Acolytes and in their first Trial by Fire, has tasked them with investigating and eradicating the threat that has taken hold of the place on the planet of Sepheris Secundus know as the “Shatters,” an important mining site whose mineral exports are valuable to the planet’s economy. A cult, known as the Brotherhood of Malice has orchestrated a series of attacks on the “Shatters” and a force of Imperial Guard has been sent in to quash the rebellion.

The Imperial Guard, led by Commissar Nihilius, has made great strides in supressing the uprising, but their advance has stalled near the Gorgonid Mine where Guardsmen have been attacked by a power with definate Chaos influence.

The Acolytes’ investigation of a section of the Gorgonid Mine revealed many horrors, such as mass mutations and psychic phenomena, that seemed to have been caused by a strange glowing stone that was embedded in the walls of one of the Mine carverns. Upon destruction of the stone, the Chaos taint in the Mine appeared to have lifted and the Guard were able to cleanse the rest of the Mine from the Cultist threat.
